Using CADKeeper

Do I need AutoCAD, Revit, or any CAD software installed?
No. CADKeeper reads file names and folder structure directly and never modifies the contents of your drawings — no AutoCAD, no Revit, no plugin, nothing to launch.
Is it safe to run on real project files?
Yes, and safety is the whole design. Every rename or move is shown as a dry-run preview you approve first, is written to a reversible change log with full before-and-after paths, and can be undone with one click. It's still smart to keep a backup before a large batch — the safeguards lower the risk, they don't replace your backups.
Do my files ever leave my machine?
No. CADKeeper is local-first and metadata-only. It works on file names, paths, sizes, and timestamps — it never uploads your drawings. The Free and Core workflows run fully offline. See the Privacy Policy for the few opt-in features that use the network.
Which file types are supported?
Free and Core cover DWG, DXF, and PDF. Pro adds the full file-type breadth — RVT, IFC, STEP, DGN, and the long tail — plus per-extension scoping. Because CADKeeper works on metadata, it treats any file type by its name and extension.
Can it read XREFs?
DXF references are read natively. For DWG, install a dwgread binary from LibreDWG and point CADKeeper at it — it runs read-only and locally. See Reading DWG XREFs. The XREF-impact check that flags which drawings a rename would affect is a Pro feature.

How licensing works

Is Core really a one-time purchase?
Yes. Core is a perpetual license: buy it once and you own it, no subscription. It lifts the Free 10-file apply cap so you can rename and auto-fix entire folders, with the full reversible change log and CSV export.
What's the difference between Core and Pro?
Core is everything in the crash-safe rename workflow, uncapped, for DWG/DXF/PDF, owned outright. Pro adds the ongoing-value features: real-time folder watch, XREF-impact checks, folder reorganization, compliance audit-trail reports, AI-assisted rule and naming suggestions, and full file-type breadth spanning any extension, including RVT, IFC, STEP and DGN. Pro is a subscription because those features keep delivering value over the life of a live project. Its first year ($200) includes a perpetual Core license — so you own the core workflow forever and never drop below Core if you cancel — then renews at $99/year. Already own Core? Upgrade in the app for $99/year. (Standard templates aren't a Pro feature — they ship on every tier, Free included.)
What happens if my Pro subscription lapses?
You drop to Core, never to Free. Your perpetual Core capabilities keep working. You only lose the recurring Pro features (folder watch, XREF-impact checks, compliance reports, the extra file types) until you renew.
Can I get a refund?
Core comes with a 14-day, no-questions money-back guarantee. Pro can be cancelled anytime and you keep access through the end of the paid period. Full details on the Refund Policy.
